In expressing her anger, Mary also exposes her own feeling of being disturbed by Moses. When Mary whips Moses, the source of her impropriety-with respect to the unwritten rules of Southern Rhodesian racism-is not the violence but rather the emotion she puts behind the violence. What had happened was that the formal pattern of black-and-white, mistress-and-servant, had been broken by the personal relation and when a white man in Africa by accident looks into the eyes of a native and sees the human being (which it is his chief preoccupation to avoid), his sense of guilt, which he denies, fumes up in resentment and he brings down the whip. Dick can continually look the to future, but Mary already sees herself on the other side of wasted years this thought sends her into the despair we witness in the free indirect discourse of this passage. Mary realizes that all of her and Dick's plans to make money and resolve their debts, whether by raising pigs or planting tobacco, will likely end in naught. The miraculous reprieve was not going to be granted. It would certainly mean no more than a partial recovery. Dick's ineptitude with the farm disturbs her. Narrator, 134Įven though Mary feels a sense of self-satisfaction after taking control of some farm operations while Dick is sick, ultimately she does not see herself as a person to run the place or to take Dick's place. She needed a man stronger than herself, and she was trying to create one out of Dick. When she saw him weak and goalless, and pitiful, she hated him, and the hate turned in on herself. She needed to think of Dick, the man to whom she was irrevocably married, as a person on his own account, a success from his own efforts. When one, who we later learn is called Moses, does not immediately obey her, she feels deeply offended and ends up hitting him in the face with a sjambok. When Dick falls ill with malaria, Mary, already easily irritated by the native houseboys, goes to supervise the fieldworkers. And she saw in his eyes that sullen resentment, and-what put the finishing touch to it-amused contempt. She opened her mouth to storm at him, but remained speechless. That lazy insolence stung her into an inarticulate rage. The thought that she will therefore have to continue living in poverty makes her feel trapped and helpless. Narrator, 94Īs she spends more time married to Dick, Mary realizes that she cannot change how he thinks, nor can she influence him to run their farm better. The women who marry men like Dick learn sooner or later that there are two things they can do: they can drive themselves mad, tear themselves to pieces in storms of futile anger and rebellion or they can hold themselves tight and go bitter. This leads her to wonder what other sorts of things she has been overlooking in the past. She realizes first of all that the man is making fun of Dick, but then, more significantly, she realizes that she would not have noticed the former's undertone of ridicule before. Narrator, 89ĭuring a visit to the station with Dick, Mary hears a farmer making a thinly concealed joke at her husband's expense. She wondered for the first time, whether she had been deluding herself. She who had once taken everything at its face value, never noticing the inflection of a phrase, or the look on a face which contradicted what was actually being said, spent the hour’s drive home considering the implications of that man’s gentle amusement at Dick.

What’s your favorite champagne? NE-YO: Ace is definitely a favorite champagne of mine. : You were sippin’ on Ace in the “Champagne Life” video. Some that come to mind in reference to “Libra Scale” are as mentioned earlier “The Matrix” for its intelligence on top of its action, but also the romantic drama “Closer” for its creative yet realistic take on the black, white and gray of relationships. This element is showcased more in part 3: “One in a Million” : What is your favorite film? And why? NE-YO: I have a few favorite films, so choosing just one is difficult. The Wii U gamepad button layout works well enough for most Gamecube games but lacks analog triggers. All Gamecube games can be played on the Wii U gamepad (which looks great btw, since the gamepad resolution is 480p). have never gotten a rerelease, and the list goes on and on.į-Zero GX on the Wii U Gamepad, one of the best racing games of all timeĪs for compatibility and image quality, everything I've said about playing Wii games on Wii U holds true for Gamecube as well. Most of Gamecube's best games on the other hand have remained stuck on its original hardware. As for PS2, nearly all of its best games have gotten remasters or rereleases in some form or another. A large number of OG Xbox games are backward compatible on 360 or on Xbox One, which leaves little reason to own the original hardware (unless you're using it for homebrew). Why, you ask? Well in the case of the original Xbox, the answer is obvious. I am personally of the opinion that Gamecube is one of Nintendo's greatest consoles ever and is the Gen 6 console most worth owning today. Gamecube Games Installed to the Wii U System Menu With that out of the way, let's get started. I know the gamepad pictures in particular look worse than they do in person. One more note: All of these pictures were taken by me with a phone camera, so I apologize if the quality isn't great. This thread is only intended to discuss what you can do with a Wii U, not how you do it. I will not engage in any discussion on piracy and will only comment on the legitimacy of my collection by stating right here that I played A LOT of Nintendo games in my time. Important: I will be showing off my digital games collection that has been installed to my personal Wii U through means only available by softmodding the console. With some tinkering, the Wii U can be home to one of the greatest collections of games possible on any hardware short of a PC (though I suppose some of you might argue for the launch day PS3), and is in fact better than a PC in several ways. I present to you my case for the Wii U and why it is one of the most important pieces of gaming hardware any enthusiast can own. Edit: Please accept my apology to all the Vita lovers out there for the poll They believed that long-simmering tensions between the couple exploded in the early morning hours of July 30 and Melvin saw murder as the way he could keep the independent-minded Marnita from divorcing him.Įighteen days after Marnita was killed, Melvin Bynum was arrested for first-degree murder. This evidence was “a game-changer,” according to investigators. Reports showed that some of those calls pinged off a tower located near where Marnita’s car had been left. But that was just a theory - and there’s a wide gap between what a prosecutor suspects, knows, and can prove, authorities told “Killer Motive.”Īs it was beginning to look like the crime could go unsolved, investigators learned that Melvin, who said he didn’t own a cell phone, actually had one in one of his son’s names.Ĭell phone records showed that Melvin had been on the phone with one of his girlfriends in a flurry of calls on the night of the murder. Through interviews they learned that Melvin monitored Marnita’s every move.ĭetectives theorized that Marnita’s emerging independence was an affront to a control freak. Once again, officials worked their way through the women and men Melvin and Marnita were respectively involved with until the well of suspects was dry.īy this time, police still had no forensic or physical evidence, but their suspicions about Melvin had deepened. This revelation stirred up a potential motive for murder. He was having affairs with different women in the church. What investigators did discover was that the Bynums’ carefully-cultivated personas were shams. In the end, though, they found nothing to link the Armor Bearers to Marnita’s grisly murder. A group within the ministry called “Armor Bearers” rose up to protect Melvin with a wall of silence.Īuthorities regarded the more than two dozen members of the group as potential suspects and eliminated each one of them through a painstaking process. It was as though a gag order had been imposed. However, the investigation hit a stonewall when they tried to talk to church congregants. Working with the information that they had, officials eliminated Melvin's sons and another young man who lived with the Bynums. One witness came forward to say that he saw someone near the car but he couldn’t identify that person. Marnita’s DNA was found on the belt, but no one else’s was, according to Michael Parker, Richmond County District Attorney.Īt the same time there were no surveillance cameras near the location where Marnita’s body was found. Police, meanwhile, grappled with the fact that strangulations make difficult cases because of the lack of physical evidence. “She was beloved,” Gordon Anderson, former reporter for the Sanford Herald, told "Killer Motive." At her funeral on August 7, throngs of people, as many as 1,500, paid their respects to the Cry Out Loud first lady. Indeed, she was a woman with many friends. Along with the couple’s sons, Melvin claimed that he had no idea who would want to kill Marnita. He allowed investigators to search their home, where they found no signs of a struggle or evidence that a crime occurred there. They had kept their marital tumult to themselves to protect their public image. Melvin, however, said that following a vacation, the couple was deciding whether to go ahead with the divorce or reconcile. They discovered the pastor hadn’t seen his wife in two days, and in their opinion, he didn’t seem particularly concerned about that. When authorities broke the news of his wife’s death to Melvin, 45, they said he “shed a few tears” and then was quickly back to being all business. However, they did find divorce papers for Marnita and Melvin Bynum. Investigators found no indication that Marnita had been sexually assaulted or signs of blunt force trauma. The crime scene was dusted for fingerprints and DNA evidence. He was hit by the smell of a decomposing body, he told “Killer Motive,” airing Saturdays at 6/5c on Oxygen. Jay Childers, of the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, knew something was horribly amiss even as he approached the vehicle. You needed some sort of hardware synthesizer, and one of the most famous families to cater to the prosumer home market were the Roland Sound Canvases. In today's video, I take a detailed look at the Roland SC-88 Pro (later re-released in new forms as the SC-880 and SK-88 Pro), a classic 1996 desktop music synthesizer that has been featured in games such as Final Fantasy X, Ys I & II Complete, Thunder Force V, Touhou EoSD, and various Nintendo games like the GBA Pokemon titles, and used by artists such as Rei Harakami.īefore the days of VSTs and DAWs, making studio quality music from the comfort of your computer wasn't as easy as it is now. Most of the new presets are filler SFX and ethnic percussion. It also has a few new poorly programmed ethnic instruments and drums many people didn't like. Most of these sounds were getting a little long in the tooth, but they're aren't used often enough for this to be a big deal. Other new sounds include a new harpsichord, clavi, music box, tubular bell, santur, harmonica, acoustic bass, sitar and some new organ variations. The 88Pro solo brasses, clarinet and oboe now have velocity-based sample switching on the 8850 MAP. The SC-8850 is a small upgrade to the SC-88Pro, featuring a stereo version of the 88Pro piano and new stereo strings. The problem can be related to the system’s USB Root Hub driver or another hardware driver. Make sure that the USB or wireless mouse and keyboard are properly connected. When a flash drive is then connected, it takes even more power away, causing the cursor movement or typing device to stop working. If the mouse or keyboard connection is loose, the device won’t be getting all the power it can get. In this type of situation, the newest hardware is usually the culprit. If connected devices are in conflict, one of them can cause the others to freeze or stop working. If your computer is freezing for some reason, it’s likely going to affect the mouse and keyboard as well-whether or not a USB flash drive is connected. Knowing the possible reasons given below should help with solving the issue and also avoiding the problem in the future. Looking at this issue critically, we discovered several reasons that may cause the problem of a connected mouse or keyboard not working when a USB flash drive is plugged in. “Why Does My Mouse Stop Working When I Plug In a Flash Drive?” Peripherals connected via Bluetooth stopped working when a USB drive was plugged into one of the PC ports.Īccording to the complaints, the issue seems to occur most often with mice and keyboards, even though other devices have been affected. A few of these users reported that the issue occurred with wireless devices as well. What to Do If the USB Mouse and Keyboard Stop Working After Plugging In a USB Flash Drive?Īccording to some Windows users, plugging in a USB drive causes other connected devices, like the mouse and keyboard, to stop working. But what if the keyboard and mouse stop working the moment you plug in the drive? That’s what this article seeks to resolve. Obviously, you need your mouse and keyboard to move around and select the things you want to copy to the USB drive. And if you just simply want to transfer files to or from the PC, you can just plug in a USB flash drive. If you’re the gaming type, you might have a USB or Bluetooth controller, special gaming mouse or VR headset connected. If you’ve got all the time in the world for media, you might be using an external speaker, a microphone or specialized audio boosters. As an active computer user, you probably have several devices connected to your PC at the same time. Even if your version is compatible, it might require you to try a few different BIOS versions to get the right one. However, you'll find multiple reports online of the BIOS upgrade only working with hardware installed.Īnother thing to check is that you have the correct BIOS version for the motherboard. Different motherboards have different quirks when it comes to using the BIOS Flash button, too.įor example, the standard information is that you should use the BIOS Flash button without any other hardware installed on the motherboard (that means no GPU, no RAM, no SSDs or HDDs connected). Frustratingly, it might not be apparent that the BIOS flash has failed until you attempt to install your new CPU or enter the BIOS. The BIOS Flash button isn't always guaranteed to work. If the BIOS flash process extends beyond 15 to 20 minutes, it's a safe bet that it isn't working and that you should try again. When the process completes, the motherboard will restart, or it may shut down depending on the manufacturer. Most motherboards with a BIOS Flash button also have a progress indicator of some sort, be that a blinking LED or a visual display on the motherboard. The BIOS flash process can take up to 10 minutes, and sometimes more, depending on the size of the new BIOS installation. Now, with the power supply switched on, press the BIOS Flash button. That means just the BIOS file, not within another folder, copied directly into the USB drive.īefore inserting the USB BIOS drive, you need to connect the 24-pin and 8-pin power connectors to your motherboard (otherwise, it won't switch on).Īfter connecting the power supply, you can insert the USB drive into the manufacturer-specified BIOS Flash USB port on the motherboard. Once the drive format completes, you can copy the renamed BIOS file to the root of the USB drive. Make sure Quick Format is checked, then hit Start. Insert the drive into your computer, then right-click and select Format. The drive must also use the FAT32 file system. Low capacity is typically 32GB or smaller, and it must be a USB 2.0 drive unless stated otherwise. Now, you need a small capacity USB 2.0 drive. The manufacturer instructions will tell you exactly what to name the file. Once the download completes, extract the files from the archive. If you're upgrading to support a new CPU, make sure you read the description properly to ensure the BIOS you choose delivers that support. Head to the manufacturer's website and download the correct BIOS file for your motherboard. Instructions are found on the motherboard manufacturer's website, and you can find them by completing an internet search for something like " bios flash button." Below, you can read a general overview of how to use the BIOS Flash button, but you should always check out the specific instructions for your motherboard. Now, the process for using the BIOS Flash button differs slightly between manufacturers but does follow a fairly similar process. Furthermore, most manufacturers clearly mark a specific USB port to use for flashing the BIOS. The button itself should be marked clearly on the motherboard and is normally found in the I/O area for ease of use. The BIOS Flash button is fairly simple to use, though it does have some quirks. The New Repertory Theatre (Newton, Mass.) offered the world premiere of Joyce Van Dyke's A Girl's War (closed Oct. Paul Daigneault directed the show runs through Nov. Carroll as his bigoted, plain-talking sister, and Miguel Cervantes as the bus driver who is the object of Alfie's unspoken affections. The cast, drawn from both theatre companies, was beyond reproach, particularly Sean McGuirk as Alfie, Nancy E. The intimate production was beautifully judged in every respect. Set in 1964, the show centers on Alfie Byrne, a shy Dublin bus driver who confronts both the Catholic Church and his own closeted homosexuality when he tries to stage a production of Oscar Wilde's Salome at his local church. It's only when he shows up in the last half-hour of the play that it becomes more than a verbal display of Butley's terminal irritability.Ī Man of No Importance, by the same folks (Terrence McNally, Stephen Flaherty, and Lynn Ahrens) who gave us Ragtime, was an ideal choice for the first collaboration between two of Boston's best small theatres-the Súgán Theatre Company, with its focus on Irish plays, and the SpeakEasy Stage Company, which specializes in small-scale, high-quality musicals. The exception is Jake Weber as Butley's rival for Joey's affections. Particularly pallid is Benedick Bates (son of Alan, the ur-Butley) as Butley's soon-to-be-ex-lover Joey. The problem is that Lane-as-Butley is virtually a one-man show without strong actors for him to play off, and with one exception, the Huntington cast doesn't provide them. Lane's timing and delivery are impeccable, his usual shtick actually serves this character well, and he wields a serviceable standard British accent (although his attempts at Scots and Northern England are dire). Butley is the right role, and Lane is extraordinarily good as the gleefully spiteful, selfish, manipulative English professor who's having a really bad day-his wife and his office mate/male lover are both leaving him. Some of the local media seemed unaware (or assumed that Boston theatregoers were unaware) that Lane is not merely a song-and-dance man but, when offered the right role, a first-rate dramatic actor. 30), directed by Artistic Director Nicholas Martin and starring two-time Tony winner Nathan Lane.
